Singaland-line

As a ceramist I can work and get inspired everywhere. I love to breath and experience new cultures and recognize the differences between the Dutch and other cultures. In 2017 I moved to Singapore for three years and here the idea was born to combine the different cultural elements in my art, resulting in the Singaland-line.
My work is called Singaland-line, because my children combined Singapore and Holland and into ‘Singaland’ before we moved here.

The Singaland-line is about the Dutch and Singapore culture and how they mix. Do they mix or does one of them prevail? Which culture is shown on the outside and how does it feel inside? This work is made from Singapore clay and has porcelain accents, porcelain has the nice detail that it came from China to Holland (Delft). I show the crackles, the gold, the boxes wherein we are put and where we can or can not and do or do not (want) to stay. These works asks and needs to be felt and touched. The Singaland-line exists of 18 works and those are all photographed in the Singapore scenic.
